Dear Noosawatchdog,
A few weeks ago when I was walking my dog along Gumboil Road, I noticed work being done on one of the water tanks. The smaller one was being re- roofed, as the iron had gone a little rusty. There was so little rust that the old iron was still good enough to be used on a new shed, according to an elderly gentleman. He was given the old tin for almost nothing. For this he was very happy, but how happy are the ratepayers?
My point is that the new roof, according to my information, cost in the vacinity of $60,000. When I enquired why it was so expensive, I was told there was only one company that was able to roll this new roof profile and that the material is stronger. Obviously no one thought about using the standard material that could have replaced the roof three times for that amount of money.
Why can't we get the Council to think carefully before spending OUR money so easily.
