Shame, council, shame

Shame. council, shame

How sad I am on reading the Noosa News. August 4.
Rezoning benefits factories. The urban footprint can be changed to assist these businesses, and I for one have no complaint with that, but cannot be changed to give the golf club development the same opportunity.

The Roberts brothers development is a much-needed first class opportunity for us Cooroy residents to have a five-star facility close to town.

But,no, the urban footprint can't be changed. Shame, council, shame.

Edwards
Cooroy

It 's easy to spend someone's money

Dear Noosawatchdog,
A few weeks ago when I was walking my dog along Gumboil Road, I noticed work being done on one of the water tanks. The smaller one was being re- roofed, as the iron had gone a little rusty. There was so little rust that the old iron was still good enough to be used on a new shed, according to an elderly gentleman. He was given the old tin for almost nothing. For this he was very happy, but how happy are the ratepayers?
My point is that the new roof, according to my information, cost in the vacinity of $60,000. When I enquired why it was so expensive, I was told there was only one company that was able to roll this new roof profile and that the material is stronger. Obviously no one thought about using the standard material that could have replaced the roof three times for that amount of money.

Why can't we get the Council to think carefully before spending OUR money so easily.

Another Council stunt

The following has been brought to the editors attention.

About 2 years ago, a property owner at Clearview Road called a prof. tree remover to inspect a rubber tree next to his drive way. As everyone knows the worst neighbour you can have is a rubber tree. The property owner was worried about his bitumen drive way because there was a clear sgin that the roots are close to his drive way and a brick wall.

The roots have been trimmed back and the same happened with the tree. Some days later he received a NSC letter where he was thretened with legal action in case he would continue doing further damage to the tree.

Last week (2 years later) Council worker turned up and chopped down nearly the whole tree. And.....they poisoned the tree.

There is no need for further comment.

Confused Environment Department

Hi
In 2008 I watched on helplessly as my neighbour but one bulldozed an entire 10 acres of trees. I had phoned council, only to be told that they couldn't workout which block of land it was on their plans, so there was nothing they could do about it. There was no mention that they would drive over so I could point it out to them.
The owner has now sold the block and presumeably was never made accountable.

You really wonder if their hearts are in it at all.
